Red Bannermen

Paladins of St. Ygg whose ultimate loyalty is to their god, though they usually are found submitting to their seniors in the bannermen and clergy. Red Bannermen are also sometimes referred to as Excoriators, and many certainly live up to this appellation -- unlike Urvan Hall, sometimes known as Urvan the Mild.

These templars (some are paladins, a few merely militant clerics) are answerable to Mordicar Justhand, and in service to St. Ygg. They maintain order and enforce the Red Laws in Eastdale. In general usage, 'Red Bannermen' refers to fighters or (more often) clerics serving the Red Temple and St. Ygg. Technically, paladins of St. Ygg are indeed Red Bannermen, but in normal usage people mean fighters or clerics of Ygg when using the term. Paladins of St. Ygg are known as Excoriators.
